Ryan Braun
Being from Wisconsin and a Milwaukee Brewers fan, I have heard a lot of bashing on Ryan Braun from the same people that placed him on a pedestal for a number of years. The old love him while he is up and stomp on him when he is down.
I am not saying what he did was right…it wasn’t. It was against the rules and he knew it. Furthermore, he was able to escape punishment last year on a technicality. He is a great baseball player just as many were before him who have broke the rules as well as the other 20+ that will also be suspended for being involved in the same mess he got himself into.
Here is my feeling on it:
I’m sure this won’t be the last professional athlete of which I am a fan that will do something that goes against the rules or lets me down in some fashion. Many have come before Braun and many will come after. I know I have no right to cast any stones…not like I have lived my life thus far abiding by every law and social confine. As a matter of fact I haven’t met anyone that has, but many claim the right or privilege to be judge and jury.
Most of us have taken a short cut or two to get ahead in some fashion or would if given the chance as long as we didn’t think we would get caught. Doing the right thing is not always the easy thing to do. But falling to the punishment for not doing so can be a life changing event….especially if you are in the public eye.
